BID TAKERS FORM

HANDLING PROXY BIDDING...

A Proxy Bid is a bid that represents the Maximum bid that a caller is willing to bid on an Item. If a caller has put in a Proxy Bid, further bidding on the Item will automatically increment the Proxy Bidder's bid above another caller's bid up to the amount of the Proxy Bid.

Push This Button To Initiate a Proxy Bid

To enter a Proxy Bid, click the "Bid Button" (identified as "CALLER'S BID" indicated here in RED) as shown above:

The graphic will change to this:

The benefit to the caller is placing a ceiling on their bidding, but get the Item for the lowest possible price.
The benefit to the Rotary Auction is that it allows callers to bid in ONE CALL every cent that they are willing to pay for the item.

This should FREE UP the phone lines so that more callers can call in on this or other items. It should increase the number of bids we take in during the hour by 10 fold.

A bid taker should ALWAYS ask the caller if they would like to enter a "highest amount", they would be willing to "Bid Up" the item, as a "Proxy Bid" and let the computer bid for them up to that amount.

Type in the Proxy Bid and press Enter (or Tab) key, and then click the "SAVE BID" button as shown below.

The next step is not necessary, but Clicking the "Bid Button" once more will return the graphic to this:

Proxy Bid Entry Completed

Notice that even though the caller entered a Proxy Bid of $50, the caller's current bid on the Item is $3, which was the Minimum bid for the Item and is now the current bid.
