The Groton Ledyard Rotary Club found Rotary Year 2000-2001 to be very successful and rewarding. Advances were made at the club, district and international levels.
The club supported numerous local, worthy community service organizations through its foundation, which is tax-exempt (501 3c) and entitled "Groton Ledyard Community Awards Incorporated". The club awarded four college scholarships to area residents. The club is assisting with high school "Career Day".
The club has been able to attract, recruit and acquire new members. Meeting programs have been educational, informative and an exciting link to the community. The club recommended qualified applicants for Group Study Exchange and Ambassadorial Scholarships.
The club has two new Paul Harris Fellows, with an additional in process.
The club successfully completed three major fund raising activities, which are a television/radio auction, rose sale and golf tournament.
The club recently launched its new website, which is an effective mechanism to communicate with club members and the community. Visit the website at http://www.grotonledyardrotary.org today.
In addition to its contributions to the community, the club has shared in the joys, sorrows and triumphs of its members, providing support and encouragement as needed. The club's continued success is assured by its ability to function as a team and the involvement of its experienced, knowledgeable, hard working, competent individual members.
