When the 2000/2001 Rotary Year comes to a close next month the members of the Groton-Ledyard Rotary Club will have donated over $6440 to the annual fund of the Rotary Foundation-Funds that will be put to work to help make a better world by paying for the many Programs of the Foundation.  In addition, one member has pledged $10,000 to the Foundation's permanent fund as a benefactor in his will.

The Rotary Foundation is now one of the largest charities in the world.  Every penny that is donated to the Foundation is put to work funding the Foundations many programs.  No funds are used for overhead expenses. These expenses are paid by using the interest on the monies donated to the annual fund which are escrowed for three years before they are included in the program budget.

We, as a Club, can be proud of our participation in this Foundation and it's vital work for the betterment of the world.

As your Foundation Chairman, I thank you one and all for this successful year.
